Lungiarü
Where the mountains are a way of life
Hidden among the folds of the ladin Dolomites, Longiarù (Lungiarü in Ladin) seems like a place out of time. Wooden houses, traditional farmsteads, deep silences, and majestic mountains rising above the rooftops: a village that preserves its authenticity intact.
But Longiarù is much more than a picturesque village: it is one of the few Alpine Villages in Italy, a special recognition that rewards the meeting of tradition, nature, and sustainable mountaineering.
For those staying at Ütia de Börz, Longiarù is reachable in just 30 minutes by car, perfect for a day trip immersed in the mountains.
Mountains as part of everyday life
What it means to be an “Alpine Village”
The Bergsteigerdörfer – Alpine Villages initiative was born in Austria and today also includes locations in Italy, Slovenia, and Germany. Promoted by the Austrian Alpine Club and supported by the CAI, it aims to enhance small Alpine villages that live mountaineering in an authentic, responsible, and environmentally respectful way.
An Alpine Village:
- is immersed in nature and far from mass tourism;
- promotes slow, conscious and sustainable tourism;
- values local cultural identity, farming, and Alpine traditions;
- is a starting point for hikes, climbs, and classic mountaineering routes;
- protects the territory through careful management of the landscape and resources.
Longiarù perfectly embodies these values: here, the mountains are not a spectacle, but part of everyday life.
An alpine village perfect in every season
